MARCELLO SILVESTRE

ARTISTIC JOURNEY

Marcello Silvestre (born 1977 in Naples) graduated in architecture in 2004 and began his artistic career in 2015, achieving consistent success in both fields. Silvestre has used his interdisciplinary knowledge and experience to pursue a holistic approach to his creative process as an artist.

Since 2017 he has collaborated with high fashion brands, such as Ermenegildo Zegna, in designing pop-up stores and creative window displays (Zegna- Maserati pop-up store for Dubai Expo 2020; Bally pop-up store in Stockholm, 2021).

Through his series of works, he examines the profound relationship between man and his soul, touching on different themes from time to time: the existential crisis and the strength to react (The Light of the Soul); the complex dynamics and problems in couple relationships (The Rust of Feelings); the masks and armor we are forced to wear every day (Everyone has an armor); the profound moments of change and hope in the future (xpectations).

These works are characterized by sludgy, indefinite bodies and materials that are somehow reminiscent of the passage of time. Looking at them, one seems to see raindrops gliding over their bodies, punctuating the passing of time, melting the forms, until they crystallize under the rust or under the patina feelings that darken the heart, hopes to be awaited or battles to be won. They are bodies sculpted in triangular polygons, approaching, rotating, disassembling and reassembling until they form bodies of men and women who are victims of misunderstandings, of worries, sustained by hope, fearful of a long goodbye and locked in thick armor. They tell complicated moments only through their bodies and not through their expressions or the eyes of their faceless figures.
