Luis Agulló is a multidisciplinary artist with a unique career that bridges automotive design and contemporary painting. He holds a degree in Transportation Design from Turin and a degree in Business Administration and Management from Madrid. His career took off in 2005 after winning the prestigious Ferrari World Design Contest “New Concepts of the Myth.” This recognition led him to join the “Centro Stile Ferrari” in Maranello, where he became part of a young and innovative team of concept designers, creating visionary prototypes for the iconic Italian brand.

Since 2007, Agulló has devoted himself fully to art, developing a distinctive visual language that blends technique, narrative, and emotion. He has twice been a finalist in the BMW Painting Award (2015 and 2018), and has exhibited at major international art fairs such as Off Art Fair (Belgium) and Busan Art Fair (South Korea), as well as in galleries in Basel, Miami, Madrid, Marbella, and Bilbao. His work has appeared in several specialized publications and featured on covers such as Revista de Occidente (No. 456 – May 2019) and the group exhibition catalog Metamorphosis.

Current Exhibition: Punky Aliens

After a decade of working in silence, Luis Agulló is unveiling for the first time a series of paintings he had kept hidden since 2013. This collection, which served as a visual and intimate diary for ten years, comes to light thanks to the encouragement of a renowned Spanish art patron who stumbled upon an image on his phone.

Punky Aliens marks a return to figurative painting — a playful and nostalgic tribute to two of the artist's lifelong fascinations: outer space and the deep sea. Drawing on his background in car design, Agulló fuses illustration, comic art, and design techniques into a retrofuturistic aesthetic rich with symbolism and emotion.

The stars of the series are charming creatures — colorful octopuses with distinct personalities — who inhabit everyday or iconic scenes, offering subtle references to history, literature, and family. Each piece tells a story, often layered with moral or emotional undertones, creating a visual universe that is both surreal and familiar, filled with humor, tenderness, and reflection.

With Punky Aliens, Agulló enters a deeply personal chapter in his artistic journey — one that diverges from his previous work, where every canvas carries a powerful emotional charge and a genuine desire to tell and connect.
