At 27 years old, he has developed a unique and recognizable style, filling his canvases with bold geometric outlines, pop culture references, and symbolic details. Oftentimes, Lucey uses iconic ‘90s animated characters as the protagonists of his works, as well as recurring original characters of his own creation.

Lucey’s painting journey began when he was 20 years old and a full-time student-athlete. As a result of a significant injury, the course of his career took a turn and he found himself channeling his energy towards creative projects. Starting with fashion design and the creation of a personal line (LoosenUp Apparel), and evolving towards paint on canvas, Lucey quickly came to the realization that he could turn a passion into a profession.

Today, Lucey has consolidated his visual identity, which involves a splash of color, strong line work, geometric abstraction, a humorous touch, and an amalgamation of personal influences. The artist shows a skillful use of mixed media, with acrylic and spray paint as the most dominant, arriving at an image that is always satisfying to the eye: “I want people to genuinely enjoy what they’re looking at."
