Masters of Perception
Starting December 10, 2025
We are delighted to announce the opening of our new exhibition at Espinasse31 Madrid—an immersive celebration of contemporary artistic excellence featuring an outstanding roster of international artists, including Hong-yi Zhuang, David Yarrow, Danhôo, Hedwige Leroux, Marco Grassi, Max Steven Grossman, and Patrick Hughes.
Located in the vibrant heart of Barrio de Las Letras, this exhibition brings together visionary creators whose works challenge perception, heighten emotion, and redefine the boundaries of contemporary aesthetics.
Hong-yi Zhuang’s practice unfolds like a living tapestry of colour and transformation. His sculptural floral surfaces shift as the viewer moves, generating a sensory dialogue between light, texture, and perception. Each piece becomes a meditation on change—delicate, immersive, and endlessly captivating—inviting the audience to experience beauty as something both intimate and ever-evolving.
David Yarrow’s photographs possess a cinematic grandeur that commands attention. Each image is a powerful encounter—raw, dramatic, and deeply atmospheric. His work transports viewers into emotionally charged landscapes defined by tension, presence, and narrative intensity.

Danhôo channels spirit, movement, and chromatic energy into dynamic abstractions. His paintings pulse with rhythmic gestures and calligraphic force, creating an intimate interplay between colour, motion, and inner vitality. Each work resonates like a visual heartbeat.
Hedwige Leroux brings sculptural elegance to contemporary femininity. Her bronze figures embody strength, poise, and emotional nuance, inviting the viewer into a quiet yet powerful dialogue. Each form radiates timeless grace, celebrating the enduring beauty of human presence.
Marco Grassi, an Italian-born painter based in Lugano, presents hyper-realistic yet subtly surreal female portraits defined by meticulous detail and emotional depth. His vibrant use of colour and richly embellished surfaces create a compelling tension between realism and dreamlike expressiveness, echoing the silent presence of his subjects.
Max Steven Grossman, a Colombian photographic artist, explores the boundary between reality and imagination. His celebrated Bookscapes—digitally constructed libraries composed of photographed book spines—form thematic visual archives that challenge viewers to reconsider the structure of knowledge and visual memory.
Patrick Hughes, a pioneering British artist, disrupts visual expectation through his invention of reverspective, an optical illusion technique that reverses perceived depth. Using wedge-shaped structures and inverted perspective, his works appear flat from the front yet shift dramatically as the viewer moves. Applied to landscapes, interiors, and architecture, Hughes’s compositions are bold, playful, and conceptually transformative.
Marcello Silvestre is an architect, designer, and artist exploring perception and materiality. Through installations, mixed media, and sculptural forms, he creates visually striking works that challenge how we see and experience reality.
Together, these artists create an exhibition that blurs the line between perception and reality. We look forward to welcoming you to Espinasse31 Madrid to experience this dynamic dialogue of contemporary voices firsthand.
