PATRICK HUGHES
VIAJE ARTÍSTICO

Patrick Hughes is a British artist living and working in London, internationally acknowledged for inventing the reverspective technique—three-dimensional relief paintings in which seemingly distant parts of the image are, in fact, the closest to the viewer.
After studying at Leeds Day Training College, Hughes had his first solo exhibition at the Portal Gallery in London in 1961 and created his first “reverspective” work, Sticking-Out Room, in 1964. His practice spans Pop Art, Optical Art and Surrealism, and consistently engages questions of perception, movement and representation.
Hughes’s works invite the viewer into active visual experience and are held in major museum collections worldwide, including the Tate Gallery and the British Library.
