JENNY PEREZ

Jenny Perez - bio

Jenny Perez is a culturally-influenced visual artist based out of Miami, Florida. Versatile and multi-faceted, her style blends pop and contemporary, with elements of abstract and street art. Her work is spiritual in nature, using vibrant colours and textures to express movement, emotion, the passage of time, and to tell an energetic story. This manifests primarily in the form of her trademark, large-lashed female character who continues to change as her work evolves. With nearly a decade of experience, Perez’s projects span a wide variety of sizes, from massive interior and exterior murals, to gallery-owned series and prints on mixed media, and at-home private collections around the world. As a contemporary artist working primarily in paint, her media can also include anything from wood, glitter, spray paint, acrylic and oil on canvas and paper.

She began her career as an apprentice under such recognised masters as Romero Britto and Erni Vales which led her to become one of the pioneering artists in the rise of Miami’s Wynwood Art District. She played a key role in the street art movement of the neighbourhood and her projects are still supported by The Goldman Family to this day. Her work has been featured in city-wide campaigns from original art-turned-bus wraps with Miami-Dade Public Transportation, to being the first female artist to ever design the Miami Marathon medal. Her collectors include world renown art collectors behind the de la Cruz Collection, Carlos, Claudia, and Rosa de la Cruz; high-level celebrities, and various influencers in several industries.

As dynamic as her own cultural background, Perez has also worked in art direction, designing movie sets, product development for recognised brands such as Armani Exchange as well as several restaurants around the country. She has been featured in international publications including DISfunkshion Magazine, Latina Magazine, and onCuba, and was one of the only living emerging artists to be featured in the ‘Urban Legends’ art exhibition hosted by the Sagamore Hotel in 2017 that also featured the likes of Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Banksy among others.

Her passion for wellness has expanded into her art career, leading her to become one of the first visual artists in Lululemon Athletica’s ambassador program. She has worked with the global brand on in-store visual displays, as well as product and merchandise development. She has also worked with the national fitness brand, Barry’s Bootcamp, on several murals and creative projects local to her hometown of Miami. She is also the exclusive in-store artist for all three of their locations in the South Florida. Beyond that, her interest in community initiatives has inspired her to work with children and at local schools through arts education programs, engage in humanitarian works and charity donations with non-profits such as Kristi House, and reconnect with her Cuban roots through her participation in the second cohort of the CubaOne Foundation program.
